At Blisworth Hill Offices, we’re eager to do our bit to help the planet, protect the natural environment, and reduce our impact on both. With access to a lot of space and a working crop farm, we decided to put our site features to good use – installing an Anaerobic Digestion (AD) plant to turn maize into usable energy.
How it works
Based on the edge of the site, our AD machine feeds off our maize harvest to generate 250kW/h that will power the busines park. While digesting the maize, grass and whole crop, it uses the methane released as fuel to create electricity. Any excess power is fed back into the national grid, ensuring no wastage.
Speaking of waste, the digested biomass creates an odour-free digestate. This is an excellent fertiliser that we will use for the next round of feedstock, ensuring the healthy growth of crops ready to power our site for the following year.
